WhatsApp messaging app not only for iPhone and Android. WhatsApp for PC lets you use the popular messenger app on your Windows PC and chat with family and friends connected to WhatsApp wherever they are.
PROS
It's free: WhatsApp Web is free to use and doesn't include ads.
Secure end-to-end connections: WhatsApp messages are secured with end-to-end encryption using the Open Whisper Systems signal protocol, which is also used in Signal's Private Messenger, Facebook Messenger, and Google Allo.
By default, WhatsApp encrypts mass messages; for some other encrypted messaging apps, such as Allo, you must actively choose to chat using end-to-end encryption.
WhatsApp for PC connects to your mobile number: The Windows version of WhatsApp uses your phone to authorize your account. During setup, you will be prompted to use QR Scanner in WhatsApp on your phone to scan the QR code on your computer. Once setup, you can use your phone or computer to chat, and sync everything between devices. WhatsApp also uses your mobile number to identify you and your contacts. (It's strange that the official app name is WhatsApp Web, don't use WhatsApp web client or web browser to chat but Whatsapp for PC.)
Individual and group chats: Talk to anyone in your contact list individually. Have group conversations with up to 256 family and friends and choose members as group managers.
You can share videos, photos, take a picture and send it using WhatsApp camera, share documents, record voice messages, add stickers and send contact information from your WhatsApp contact list.
BOTTOM LINE
WhatsApp for Windows is an easy way to stay in touch with family and friends who also use the app when you are away from your phone. The PC version lacks some features in the mobile app, and if privacy is your primary concern, you may want to consider another messaging app that is not linked to Facebook.
