Huawei explains how palm rejection works on the Mate 30 Pro
The Horizon screen on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is curved at an angle of 88 degrees and covers a large part of the phone. This obviously raises concerns about unwanted touches as you carry the phone, but Huawei VP Li Xiaolong explains that this won't be a problem.
The screen is divided into three areas - the flat surface from the front and two smaller areas on the side. Side touches are ignored, so the touch screen will work like a typical flat panel most of the time.
There are some situations where touch functionality is enabled in the side areas, for example for volume buttons, game shoulder buttons or shutter key. For example, to activate volume controls, you need to double-click on the side. Producer Bruce Lee believes that people will get used to it quickly and find it suitable.
