How to schedule emails to send later using Gmail

The new Gmail scheduling feature should now reach your account, and if you're not using it, you're sure to use it. You can schedule emails to be sent on a specific day and time, instead of trying to remember to send them. The new feature is similar to Boomerang, but it's built into Gmail, making it a million times more convenient. You can schedule emails up to 49 years in advance (a great way to say happy birthday every year).

Scheduling later emails is useful when:

1- You don't want to waste your email in the hundreds of emails your boss receives
2- Do not want to be a jerk send a task to work on Saturday
3- You want to look thoughtful (by remembering a friend's birthday) or a product (by blowing up emails at 8 am on Monday morning)
Gmail message scheduling now works from your personal and corporate accounts. Look for the arrow next to the Submit button in the browser or the three nested points in the app.

Here's how to get started.

From Gmail in your browser
Once you've created your email and you're ready to schedule it:

Step 1:
Locate the drop-down arrow near the Submit button.

Step 2:
Click the arrow, and then click Send Scheduling.

Step 3:
A menu will appear that lets you choose the date and time you want to send an email to.

Step 4:
Select the time and click Send Table. A message box will appear in the lower-right corner stating "Send Scheduled to ..." where you can press Undo if you make a mistake or view the message.

From the Gmail app on your phone or tablet

Step 1:
If you're using the Gmail app to send email, select the three dots you've accumulated in the upper left corner.

Step 2:
Click Points and select "Schedule a submission."

Step 3:
From there, a menu will appear and you can add the date and time of your submission.

Step 4:
Click Send Table. A message box will appear in the lower-right corner indicating "Send Scheduled ...". You can undo the action or view your message

What if I need to update or delete my email?

If you decide you don't want to send an email after all, you can still delete it as long as you arrive before the deadline.

Just click "Scheduled" in the main menu, choose the email you want to delete, then select "Cancel Send".

If you need to update the time or date the email will be sent, cancel the email. A draft will appear where you can modify your email content and repeat the steps above.
