How to delete messages in
Facebook Messenger
Let's face it. We've all said things online that we hope we can recover, be it nice chat or messages sent to the wrong recipient. Thanks to the latest Facebook Messenger update, the long-awaited ability to delete messages for both parties is finally available.
Although it is not guaranteed, the quick action usually means that your message will not appear on the other side of the conversation.

You can also archive and delete entire threads that you no longer want to see. It takes only seconds to delete Facebook messages on your desktop or mobile device, but deleting the full threads only applies to your inbox, not to your friends. Heres how to do this:
Delete messages on your desktop
Step 1: Sign in to Facebook as you normally would.
Step 2: Click the chat bubble in the upper-right corner, followed by "See all in Messenger." The last option is located at the bottom right.
Step 3: To delete a full thread, hover over the conversation and click the gear icon in the bottom left corner. Then, press Delete.
Step 4: Three options will be offered: Cancel, Delete, or Archive. Click Delete to continue.
Step 5: To delete part of your conversation, click Chat and hover over the message you want to delete. Then, click the three horizontal dots and click Remove.
Step 6: If it is less than 10 minutes after the message is sent, you will be given the option to remove the message for everyone or just yourself. Once you've selected your selection, click Remove.
The person at the other end of the conversation will see that you've removed a message if you've chosen the option for everyone, but the content will no longer be available. If it's more than ten minutes, you'll only be able to remove the message yourself.
Delete messages on your mobile device
Step 1: If you have not already downloaded the Messenger app for iOS or Android, sign in as you normally would.
Step 2: If you want to delete an entire conversation, press and hold the thread or scroll to the right and select the red trash bin. You'll get the option to hide or permanently delete chat.
Hidden chats can still be found using the search bar at the top of the home page, but you will not be able to see them in chat lists until you send another message.
Step 3: If you just want to delete a single message, go to the conversation and hold down the message you want to delete, and select "Remove" at the bottom.
